William (Billy) Wyman Sherwood was born in Las Vegas into a very musical family. His father Bobby Sherwood, was a well-known big bandleader and his mother Phyllis Sherwood, sang and played drums. Billy Sherwood formed his first band, Lodgic, with his brother in their native Las Vegas. The group relocated to Los Angeles in 1980. It was there where they recorded and released one album. Billy decided to form another group upon Lodgic’s dissolution and the group World Trade was born. The band released two excellent and well-received albums, which Billy produced, engineered and sang lead vocals on. It was while he in World Trade that Chris Squire of YES invited him to join him in a splinter group of YES that eventually morphed into Billy becoming a full time member and producer and writer in Yes in the late 1980’s and 1990’s.

Billy had been honing his production skills all the while and throughout much of the next 15 years has become a leading producer, writer and engineer of artist as diverse as Motorhead, Paul Rodgers and John Wetton. At the same time he worked with other well-known musicians, producing tribute albums for various record companies.

It was while he was working with these musicians that he asked his old band-mates Tony Kaye and Alan White to join him in a new music venture called Circa. This morphed into his now current band YOSO, which has ex Toto lead singer Bobby Kimball singing lead vocals. Billy continues to work as a writer and producer, having produced the new YOSO CD and is lined up to produce other big name artists in the near future.
Billy Sherwood is a non-stop brilliant musical one-stop shop. Be it on the road with his band YOSO, or as a duo with Tony Kaye, or writing and producing for others not a day goes by without Billy Sherwood continuing his family’s musical heritage.
